So. We got chicks.
Once they lose their down they're going to live with our friend Laurie and we're going to do an eggs sharing thing. That is if they're not legalized. And on that note, the meeting wasn't able to get to hens, they ran out of time due to other agenda points. April 9th is the day of reckoning, so there's still time to get your emails and phone calls in to your alderman!
And now, some photos from around our yard since mother nature has been having some pretty nice hot flashes in our neck of the woods:

| Our morning glories under the wee soda bottle greenhouse |
 |
| Wild onions! Yay! |
 |
Our soon to be potato bed, with a row of replanted volunteer
lettuce in the back round |

| More volunteer lettuce. |
 |
| Our garden is going to be fucking huge. |

Wintered hay for mulch. We had the genius idea that if we
bought it last fall and covered it with a tarp it'd be
cheaper than buying it now. We didn't account for the mushrooms
growing in it though....bonus? |
Congratulations on the chicks! I have my fingers crossed that you'll be able to keep them!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!... Your lettuce is lookin' good. I'm also getting some volunteer lettuce.
ReplyDeleteCheep cheep cheep! I remember when our ladies were that little! We just got our first eggs yesterday from our October chickles. Good luck with the government!
