Some quick updates: Suter company in Sycamore is donating 100 food safe plastic buckets for making self watering containers for folks who have no greenspace to grow. That is, if I can fit them all into the back of our car. We'll see how that goes... We'll also see how Erick reacts to 100 MORE buckets in the garage, he was sort of asleep when I made the phone calls....
Also, I submitted an application for a grant of two hundred dollars for the DeKalb Area Gardening Club to supply fencing and soil tests this spring. I also am working on contacting some seed companies recommended by my favorite greenhouse manager, hopefully they're in a donating kind of mood!
Wednesday I'm speaking for about ten minutes at our Environmental Commission meeting about Just A Few Hens, and I'll answer questions. Hopefully it'll help me fine tune the proposal and get everything ship shape for the COW meeting on the 14th. Also, folks have been busy with the petitions! The same awesome lady who gave me used cooking oil to make soap with has let me leave petitions at her establishment and she's already filled them!
I simply cannot believe how readily folks are willing to help with these projects. It just goes to show if you're prepared and polite, folks will move mountains to make things happen for you!
